Soothing lake waves rolling onto beach with a bird call 3/4 through the clip. Not sure of the bird but it was grey and the size of a grey jay/whiskey jack/camp robber but a different spices as it had a black and white saddle on its back and a different head than a grey jay. I was not fast enough to get a photo of the bird. The sound was captured by a rode videomic on a cannon vixia hg20. I broke the sound out with corel videostudio pro 8 and saved the file. I recorded the file 2017-11-18 at paul lake, bc canada.

Five glorious minutes of the sound of ducks! recorded on the woodland lakes holiday park near thirsk in yorkshire. Over 100 mallard ducks descend onto a small man-made lake in the midst of the holiday cabins and then proceed to quack loudly and splash about in the water. I'm listing this under a creative commons 0 licence, but if you download this recording i'd love to know how you are going to use it. It's not mandatory to tell me, i'd just be interested to know.

The peaceful natural recording was made in early march of 2012 in woods bordering a lake. Even though it was late-winter/early spring and was cold -- about 38 degrees -- it was not totally still. These tufted titmice and song sparrows were actively singing as if to say "hey, winter's almost gone, get ready for spring. "recorded onto a zoom h4n recorder using a rode nt-g2 shotgun microphone mounted inside a parabolic dish.

This recording was made in the path of totality of the august 21st 2017 eclipse, in the woods surrounding devil's kitchen lake in southern illinois. It's a stereo extract from a longer, 88 minute b format recording. The purpose of making the recording was to see how the eclipse affected the sounds produced by insects and birds. In this extract, totality occurs exactly 10:00 minutes in; and ends at exactly 12:38. This mirrors the time totality occurred at devil's kitchen lake: from 1:20:27pm to 1:23:05pm central time. Mic: core sound tetramicrecorder: zoom f8. Panorama of the recording site: https://photos. App. Goo. Gl/t2m3esbcm71l4wzza. With thanks to jay needham for being a good host, and guidance on where rattlesnakes like to hang out. Please note that this is a 48k 24bit flac file - flac files can be easily read and converted by audacity [https://www. Audacityteam. Org/] and reaper [http://reaper. Fm/], among others.

Tiny waves lapping the quartzite pebbles (1-2cm diameter) on a beach at lake pedder. Recorded 21 march 2019, 3am, with the internal mics on a marantz pmd661. For noise reduction, capture a noise print around 0. 09. Exceptionally quiet night, no wind, no other sounds. The gordon river power station was 20 kms distant. Other mechanical equipment or vehicles greater then 50 kms. I could just perceive the electrical hum from the station (or from transmission lines), and so could my partner, but i can’t hear it on the recording. See also "tiny waves lapping #1".

Sounds of a fireworks show i recorded at a private party last year. While not the sound of a huge fireworks show you might hear at disneyland for example, i was right under the rockets being launced so i think it captured good sounds. It was over a lake with a crowd and boats coming and going but i think i was able to edit all those sounds out.

At 1. 30 on the recording you can hear my partner’s soft cough coming from our tent 50m away. The crackles that sound like static come from the quartzite pebbles as they are moved around by the tiny waves. See also "tiny waves lapping #2".

This is a recording i made on sunday november 4th 2012 of the gentle, droning sounds of insects that were singing in a marshy area near the shore of a small lake. This is a very typical ambiance of autumn in the southern portion of illinois. If you listen carefully, you'll hear another very typical fall sound, the cry of blue jays in the heavy woods which surround this lake. One of my favorite sound-scapes. I made this with my rugged and dependable handy zoom h4n recorder, using its built-in microphones. I literaly had it sitting on a small log only about 15 feet from the water's edge. Because the insects were not very loud, i did have to crank up my record volume to 86 on the scale of 100; this means you will hear a little bit of slight wind rumble, but all-in-all i think the recording paints a good picture of the early autumn landscape and everything slows down and winds down for the bitter winter ahead. Enjoy.

This recording was taken around 10. 30pm near a village called dewe in uganda. Dewe is a village in uganda about 100 yards from the shores of lake victoria. I was fortunate enough to spend a month staying with a project called the dewe school of art based in the village. I took this recording while i was alone in the project gardens at night. I have not processed or tampered with the sound in any other way than slightly amplifying the original. Surround recording on zoom h2.

This sound file incorporates sounds from freesound. Org due to the pandemic at hand and not being able to go out and record these sounds individually. The addresses i chose are sportsman’s park racetrack (cicero) and mission hills golf club. I made a substitution with one sound file that i recorded myself in nature in my neighborhood to incorporate the sounds of a golf course. Although the other file was used from freesound. Org. This piece uses these sounds from freesound: vw golf r, by everydaysounds. Additionally, what can be heard on this file is the sounds of birds chirping and rain falling as well as the sound a fast car speeding around a track to propose some contrast. Something that could spark the listener’s interest is that not often does nature and the machines that we humans make harmonize with each other, but in this i think they flow just fine. Recorded on the shortest day of the year at the edge of a lake where the wind was gusting from the south at 15 to 20 miles an hour. At the beginning you hear some geese in the distance. This recording was made using my sony pcm m-10 with it's internal microphones set to level 5 input volume. I actually placed the recorder, carefully, in a crook of some branches in an oak tree about 5 feet above the ground---very near a big clump of dead and brown oak leaves. . . . This gives you that wonderful sound of the wind hissing through the leaves.

An early spring bird-recording trip turned into a surprise, steady rain. (*actually, it should not have been a surprise, i just was too lazy to check the weather before i went out exploring nature!). I set up my zoom h4n recorder partially under a picnic table and recorded this wonderful, peaceful light rain falling in a small field of very large white pines, which were growing on a penninsula of a small lake. Every now and then you will hear a bird singing out. Again, recorded using my handy zoom h4n recorder with the built-in stereo microphones. Enjoy. Kevin.

A very peaceful, melancholy soundscape i recorded on labor day weekend in some woods, about 20 feet from a popular lake in the midwest. There was a small cove in between my setup and several campers across the way. . . They undoubtedly were enjoying one last time with nature starting to change from summer to autumn. The main sound is that of insects, not sure what the species is, but, they have a beautiful, drowsy "tick-tick-tick" sound that repeats. . . To me, this sound signals the very subtle, almost imperceptible march towards the autumn equinox. I swear, the longer you listen to this captivating insect, you're drawn into, almost like a hypnosis state of reflection. . . A couple things to listen for:(1) around 1:13 a very low splash. (2) at 1:38 a lone goose honks. (3) starting at 2:30 some very low volume, muted camper conversations. (4) at 2:36 a louder splash. (5) 2:41 more beautiful, un-hurried muted camper conversations. No doubt talking about how they need to break camp and return to the real world, but the "tick-tick-tick" of the insects have a strong hold on them. No, stay a little while longer; have another cup of coffee, talk about your accomplishments over the past summer,. This was recorded around 10am on sunday morning, september 6th, 2020 in illinois. Mixpre-6 audio recorder and the sennheiser mkh 416 microphone. Enjoy this audio snap-shot of the natural world winding down summer!.

The very unique call of the cuckoo recording on may 23rd, 2015 in southern illinois. This "singing" sounds like nothing else in the forest. They are not very common in this part of the country, so, i am very very fortunate to have captured this primal call on " tape ". Equipment used: marantz pmd661, with stereo samson co-2 microphones mounted on a tripod about 4 feet from the ground. I was set up on a trail on the edge of a large forested area which eventually leads down to a huge lake. Recorded around 6:30pm on a mild evening--partly cloudy and temp was 74 degrees.

A stark soundscape of the icy wind swooshing through dry oak leaves on the edge of a midwestern lake. Plus, as an added bonus, from out of nowhere two fast-moving canada geese come storming through at only about 25 feet from where i was standing!. I was very lucky because they are so close that at some point during this recording, you can actually hear the sound of the wind being pummeled by the beating of the geese's very large, strong wings. Equipment: sound devices mixpre-6 and sennheiser mkh 416 inside a blimp. Recorded on monday december 28 2020 around 1:30 in the afternoon. Outside temp was 37 degrees and the wind was blowing steady at 10 to 15 miles an hour.

A late summer soundscape that is a favorite of mine. . Microphones set up in some mature woods about 60 feet from a large lake on labor day weekend. Most of the background is the insects, which are very obvious during this time of year. The swelling of their volume is nap-inducing (*at least to me in my opinion. )here is the midwest this swelling and subsiding of the insect wave tells me that summer is just about starting to go back downhill, after a feverish peak. Despite the covid-19 of the year, nature does not seem to have changed her soundscape. Life goes on in the forests. The birds, whose job of raising young is over, are still there. . . They're just resting and relaxing and listening to the insects as well i'm sure. Now of course you will hear a few prominent birds in this captured moment:(1) a great blue heron squawks out starting at 1:17 into this piece. (2) the alarm call of a red-headed woodpecker can be heard at 2:14. Other than that, just the insects singing their hearts out and the assortment of birds taking secondary place during this time of year. This was recorded on sunday september 6th 2020 at 8:30 in the morning in the forest in southern illinois. Equipment: zoom f4, microphone: sennheiser mkh 8060. Enjoy this audio snapshot of the subdued -- yet vibrant - sound color of late summer, finding comfort in the fact that, within four weeks, the colors of the leaves will be changing to oranges and reds and yellows. But, for now, there is still life to live in the insect and bird world.

The first sunday of may is the international dawn chorus day! on the 3rd of may 2020, artists and field recordists in different parts of the world recorded the birdsong around the time of the local sunrise, and then the sounds were put together in a synchronous collage. The sounds you hear in the recording at the same time happened at the same time, but not necessarily in the same place: for example, you can hear owls calling in the spanish night at almost the same time as kookaburras in the australian day.
